Mercuria Vol. 1: Bundle
Includes Chapters I-V
Mercuria is an experimental magazine wherein art and science coalesce. From the systematic to the subjective, Mercury appears across diverse fields of creative and scientific inquiry. Like its swift-footed, shape-shifting namesake, this volume of Mercuria moves effortlessly across disparate subjects—astronomy, astrology, chemistry, alchemy, photography, medicine, mythology—creating connections and blurring the boundaries between them.
Ch. I—A Fragmented History of Mercury: An introduction to the expansive influence of Mercury, presented in a sequence of vignettes and guided by the eponymous planet, deity, and element.
Ch. II—Prima Mythica: Interweaving the elusive and enigmatic, this photographic homage to the mercurial playfully moves across the pages through celestial and earthly landscapes.
Ch. III—Medicine and Madness: An anecdotal history of elemental mercury and the human body, from ancient quests for immortality to a modern-day search for lost treasure.
Ch. IV—Faulty Stars: A lyrical exploration of the cosmic glitches attributed to the astrological scapegoat and astronomical optical illusion known as Mercury Retrograde.
Ch. V—The Red Thread: An interdisciplinary take on the mercurial history of red, from its volcanic origins to the influence of vibrant atmospheric phenomena on art, literature, and folklore.
