Why this book

Why this book?

We love a book that can be genuinely weird without the weirdness being the whole point, and this one has so much heart underneath it.

At a glance
After losing her eleven-year-old son, a grieving mother finds a way to bring a small piece of him back to life, and what comes back slowly grows into Monstrilio, a strange little creature who begins to resemble the boy she lost. It gets weird and a little gruesome, but underneath all of that, it’s a surprisingly tender story about grief, family, queerness, and figuring out how to love someone who is changing right in front of you.
